The Season of Thankfulness

Patti Parish-Kaminski

The holidays always bring me a sense of thankfulness. Yes, I’m always thankful for my family, my freedom, my friends and the many opportunities and blessings that God has afforded me, but this time of year, my spirit is more humble, and my gratitude for life more top of mind. Perhaps it’s all those Hallmark Christmas movies?

As a business owner in Fort Bend, I am especially thankful for the opportunity to work here, raise my children here and contribute to a community that I am extremely proud of.  When I talked with Manish Seth, I discovered that this sentiment for community is one we both share. While Manish was not born here, he was raised in Fort Bend and chooses to raise his children here. He also chooses to support the community with his time, talents and treasure, all with devotion:  devotion to the community that has given him so much, devotion to his family and devotion to service.  I hope you will read about Manish and the reasons he wants to serve as Representative for Texas State District 27.

As we are out and about this season trying to get the best gifts for our loved ones, perhaps the best gifts we can give are of ourselves. Novelist, journalist, humorist and most importantly, Texan, Oren Arnold said, “The best gifts to give:  To your friend, loyalty; To your enemy, forgiveness; To your boss, service; To a child, a good example; To your parents, gratitude and devotion; To your mate, love and faithfulness; To all men and women, charity.”

I wish you a holiday season filled with loyalty, forgiveness, service, gratitude, devotion, love, faithfulness and charity.
